Hi, I’m Indira Toussaint.
I am a cultural practitioner, poet, and Co-Director of Twossaints—a creative company rooted in Afro-Caribbean culture, language, and storytelling.
My practice is grounded in the conviction that culture is something you inhabit, not just observe. Through Kwéyòl language learning, food, arts, and community-led experiences across the Caribbean and its diaspora, I make culture something you can taste, touch, and pass on.
I am a founding member of An Ba Lanmè, a consortium of five cultural organizations across Martinique, St. Lucia, and Dominica. My educational outreach extends even further: I work with schools in the UK and universities in the US to bring student groups into direct contact with Caribbean culture and community.
Trained in Anthropology at the University of Bristol, my academic grounding shapes how I think about identity, power, and who gets to tell the story. As a graduate of Caribbean Women in Leadership (CWiL), I addressed the St. Lucia House of Parliament in 2022 on women's economic development, period poverty, and the creative industries as part of a Parlamericas initiative connecting women leaders across the region. Today, I continue to mentor young women from Jamaica and Belize through that same CWiL program, supporting the next generation as they step up to use their civic voice.
