Hi, I'm Bernice Mwaura

I'm a Communications Consultant and artist; whose work centers on impact-oriented projects that connect, support and empower communities across the African continent and its diaspora.

I hold a BA Honours (with Distinction) in African Studies & Film Studies from Carleton University, Ottawa; where my academic focus took shape in what remains a core driving interest today; exploring Afro-continental and diasporic history, memory and culture.

My past experience includes serving as an 1834 Global Fellow with the 1834 Foundation; and as a Youth Policy Maker with the Ontario Council for International Cooperation. I am currently the founder of The Migrant & Refugee Empowerment Network (MREN); a platform that seeks to support and empower migrants, refugees and returnees across Kenya and the wider continent.
